Where it started

Julia grew up in a country town of under 500 people, with zero industry connections. She knew at five she wanted to be a makeup artist. She drove four hours to makeup school and paid for it working three jobs: managing a McDonald's full time, a sushi restaurant, and babysitting.

From CMU to Glam Masters

In just one short year, Julia went from graduating from the award-winning College of Makeup, Art & Design (CMU) in Toronto to having her work put under a magnifying glass by some of the biggest names in the makeup world on Kim Kardashian West's TV show Glam Masters. Julia was a finalist, creating wicked looks in under an hour, all while being filmed by a major Los Angeles production crew. But that was just the beginning!

Burberry & the big brands

Julia went on to a year-long partnership with Burberry Beauty as their Canadian Makeup Ambassador, teaching masterclasses all over Canada. She also works with elite brands such as Make Up For Ever, MAC Cosmetics and NARS, to name a few. She contributes to CBC Life as their beauty expert, collaborated with Temptu Pro on her own beauty products, and was the youngest makeup artist ever featured in Marie Claire.

She is on call for some of the biggest Canadian celebrities, and her clients often say that not only does Julia make them look gorgeous, her calming presence is exactly what they need before a big event.

On tour with Avril Lavigne

For the past five years, Julia has been Avril Lavigne's key makeup artist, touring the world with her and occasionally doing hair, nails and content as well. She has mastered the Avril smokey eye. Some of the fun events outside the tour included Paris Fashion Week, the VMAs, and music videos for Avril's new songs, to name a few.

Julia has worked major industry events, including the Met Gala, SNL, the Grammys, the AMAs and the VMAs!

Building the Academy

Julia turned her experience into the Julia Dantas Beauty Academy, a global online and in-person makeup artist certification, with hands-on workshops that students fly in for from all over the world. She has her own beauty agency of makeup artists working under her label, doing everything from commercial gigs to bridal parties, and founded her luxury line, 411 Cosmetics.

She was featured in Elle as an up-and-coming beauty guru and in Forbes, and her most meaningful message to young girls is this: you can do anything you put your mind to. Anything is possible.
